Hopley is located on the outskirts of Zimbabwe‘s capital, Harare. As a result of a clean-up operation in 2005, Hopley has become home for refugees from surrounding neighborhoods. Residents founded the private Rising Star School here in 2010 to give their children access to education. However, lessons in primary school take place under simple conditions. The target group of this project are all the students who are currently or in future attending the Rising Star School. About 25% of the over 800 schoolchildren are orphans and live with relatives or friends. These can not always provide adequate care due to lack of job opportunities. It is all the more important that these children are able to graduate from school and get a chance for further education and safe income.
