introduction
Resettlement in Viet Nam - Policies and Social Impact Assessment.

Involuntary resettlement is one of many challenges imposed by the extractive sector, particularly balancing the competing interests and responsibilities of governments, companies and affected local communities. Unluckily the resettlement projects are established with so many competing interests, that the inhabitants are involuntary relocated into the "new village" where is lacked of living conditions and infrastructure.

Impact
Long-term functional life of the building with all aspects of ethic and aesthetic

Every dwelling at the beginning has only one volume with a dimension of 4mx10.5m, only opening in front and back with all the functions as an urban tube-house. The new steel core reinforces the existing house and afforts an opening in the cross direction of the house for a veranda, which is typical in subtropical countries. Many activities of people can take place under this veranda: relaxing, eating, family meeting, Afternoon nap as the traditional and cultural activities.

This core is also a reinforced element for all further space extension for the long-term functional life of the house. With coconut leaves, the house has more archetypical atmosphere for the rehabilitation of the living on this peninsula. The mezzanine floor is a place to keep valuable things like rice, food and accommodation in case of a flood.

Sustainable recyclable light steel construction as an innovative method in Viet Nam

Instead of using grout and concrete as universal materials for the mostly building activities in Viet Nam, a light steel module is developed to reinforce the very weak existence construction of all dwellings. This module efforts a quickly mounting process on the site, the simple connection details between the new and the old elements, possibility to extend the construction furthermore thanks to the expandable montage details. The construction is 5m high, with a small gallery area to sleep as the vertical extension and the construction core for all of the horizontal extensions. This extension module from cold-rolled steel with dipped zinc doesn't need to be painted and can stand against corrosion. All connection details are screwed and can be redesigned for the changing needs.
