INTEGRA Filder e.V. is a non-profit association that has long been committed to the equal participation of all people in society with its intercultural team and volunteers (Germany, Turkey, Croatia, Ghana, Gambia, France, Syria, Iraq, Ethiopia). The focus is on educational work for children, young people and adults in theory and practice. There are educational opportunities in the sectors of language, culture, education, health, empowerment, social participation, ecology, climate and environmental protection and art. INTEGRA cooperates in a large network with partners, organizations and associations of different orientations. One of our sustainable projects is "Stadt goes future-intercultural and sustainable urban development." The offer is aimed at all residents of our city. We want to develop cities together in a culturally, socially, ecologically and architecturally sustainable way. At the first workshop in April 2021, the most important goal for all participants was to create a central, green and sustainable place in the city where people can meet, enjoy their free time and design the place together. We want to create this meeting point in the ecologically designed garden next to our office. In order to be able to use it all year round, we urgently need a sustainable, extraordinary garden shed that we want to build together. We want it to become a role model for other citizens.

 


 
 

1. Societal aspect: People of different social milieus and origins shape their city together-> cooperation on equal terms, dismantling of prejudices / racism 2. Social participation: People who hardly have the opportunity to get involved in society can do so in this project. 3. Identification with the place of origin: if you can help shape your place of residence, you will feel comfortable and take responsibility. 4. Health and well-being: Especially people / families who have little living space and no garden / balcony are dependent on public green spaces / gardens in the vicinity in order to be in the fresh air / in nature, to relax, to be with other people and to be able to meet others. 5. Sustainable urban design and quality of life -> a climate-friendly, sustainable city needs ecologically valuable green / natural spaces and sustainably planned and constructed buildings (e.g. regional or recycled materials). 6. Role model -> the garden and the house should serve as models for others in order to encourage them to act sustainably as well 7. Feasibility: the building should be manufactured so cheaply that it is possible for many people to build it themselves 8. Knowledge transfer-> people from different social milieus and origin are involved in the project. Everyone can contribute to it with her and his (cultural) knowledge and implement the project in her/his home country. 8. Multifunctionality: the house is a meeting point, place of education, information point, sales stand (for products from the garden), model for sustainable building.

Over the years, INTEGRA has built up a large network with clubs, organizations and volunteers who have been supporting us with the "Urban Gardening" project since 2017. With every further action in the project, new supporters were added.

Mehmet + Bärbel Havlaci: jointly founded INTEGRA, they do project work for over 20 years in the field of integration, focus: education + participation
Andrea Jelic: project leadership at INTEGRA, responsible for social, political, cultural+sustainable issues, initiator of the project "Urban Gardening" in combination with "StadtGoesFuture", advocates sustainable urban development as a city councillor in Filderstadt
Brigitta Reiner: project employee at INTEGRA, responsible for the "Urban Gardening" project + all tasks in the field of sustainability, she particpates in the working group “AK-Asyl” that supports refugees
Farah Alhamwi: comes from Syria, studied English there, volunteer leader of a group of refugee Arab women at INTEGRA, together with the INTEGRA team she offers a variety of educational opportunities to the group, she is a project employee at INTEGRA
Angie Müller: architect, is committed to sustainable architecture and urban development
Gibril Krubally - comes from Gambia, works closely with INTEGRA with his association "EMPAIA eV", implements sustainable ecological agricultural projects in Gambia, is an excellent craftsman who can work well with natural building materials
Retired landscape gardener and architect Peter Wirth, has supported the project since the beginning with specialist knowledge + construction
